Kate is excited to be back home in Chapel Hill and part of the team at NCBC! She is a Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse-Midwife, and DONA trained birth doula. She is a North Carolina native and attended UNC Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree before continuing on to Vanderbilt University to complete her master’s of nursing and midwifery education.

Kate has always been interested in pregnancy and birth and attended DONA birth doula training while studying for her undergraduate degree. This allowed her the privilege of attending her first birth as a doula for a close family friend at a birth center, and she never looked back! She went on to volunteer with the Birth Partners program at UNC and continued to enjoy doula work amidst her midwifery education. During her training at Vanderbilt, Kate had the opportunity to work in both hospital and birth center settings, and moved to Tacoma, WA and Denver, CO for clinical rotations. During this time, she felt strongly pulled toward birth center work and a holistic care model. She values collaborative care and building relationships with patients and their families.

Kate has anticipated the opening of NCBC for the entirety of her midwifery training and is excited to work in the community she calls home. She lives in Carrboro and loves being able to walk to her favorite local spots. In her free time she likes to spend time outside running or hiking. She enjoys a good book or podcast, and spending quality time with family and friends!
