Pancha Gopal is delighted to be working at NCBC. She is an RN, who, besides working as a birth assistant at NCBC, works part-time at UNC Hospital on their Postpartum Unit. Her passion for birthwork began at 9 years old, when she attended the birth of her younger brother. During her teenage years, she devoured birth story books, midwifery memoirs, and anything about physiological birth as she dreamed of a career as a midwife. As a young mother of two, she became a birth and postpartum doula, further pursuing her interest in birthwork.

Pancha became a registered nurse in 2020 and, shortly afterwards, began working at the Women's Birth and Wellness Center, NCBC's previous incarnation. Community birth is where her heart lives, and it is a joy to be part of the beginnings of NCBC. She is excited to see its growth and expansion!

When she is not working with mamas and babies, she teaches classical Indian dance classes and is a certified yoga teacher. She loves gardening, hiking, hot yoga, community kirtans, crocheting, and spending quality time with her family and close friends. She lives in Chapel Hill with her husband and 12-year-old daughter.
